Coyote Returns to San Diego After Exodus of 1978
Coyote left San Diego in 1978 after winning the KPRI Battle of the Bands Contest.
Now, Coyote returns to San Diego to see if this is the fertile ground for him to launch the new headquarters of Tai Chi Youth and launch his Buddha Kung Fu classes.
The Shaolin Communications book publishing and distribution company of Richard Del Connor and the music publishing company, Shaolin Music, could operate from anywhere on the planet with a good internet connection.
Shaolin Records also could be located anywhere but requires a recording studio.
With all the relatives, classmates, childhood friends in San Diego, all having relatives and kids also, should provide a fertile city for Buddha Kung Fu and Tai Chi Youth classes. Perhaps even Shaolin Chi Mantis Traditional Buddhist Gongfu and Taijiquan could also find some worthy candidates. With Oceanside to the North and the San Diego Naval Base, and the Mirarmar Air Force... there are a lot of ex-soldiers in San Diego. They come to serve, and stay to live.
As for Coyote? That's the toughest part of this move. Coyote was embraced in Tujunga and Montrose by the few locals who came to know him... but Coyote was never a public figure in either neighborhood. Perhaps if he would have won the Tujunga Poet Laureate title...
According the The Holy Bible, it is hardest for a man to be a Saint or Hero in his home town. Especially since relatives, brothers, sisters, and parents will never revere or adore you. You're just someone they HAD to take care, of now they don't. Most people choose not to care or adopt other people unless the police and government force them to.
Coyote's daughter, Caitlin O'Connor, is a 21-year old incredibly compassionate person who graduates the National Holistic Massage Institute this month. She took her Kung Fu and Tai Chi skills and became a Western healer. She lives with her boyfriend in Northern Los Angeles County. "I'd still like to have her in my life more," says daddy dog Coyote. "She talks about starting a holistic center and hiring me to teach Tai Chi and Qigong there. I talk about having my Kung Fu school somewhere and she could have her own office and massage therapy center there."
Coyote's son, Rory O'Connor, 14, loves to play videogames. As a very young child he displayed amazing artistic skills, as did Caitlin O'Connor also, but he played with computer graphics. "He was more daring and bold than I was!" emphasizes Coyote. "He would figure out artistic brushes and techniques faster than me. He'd click here. Click there. He did crash my computer a few times," chuckles Coyote. "One time I had to reinstall the entire operating system. But I still admire his bravery in searching for artistic techniques."
Rory lives with his mother, Michelle McCarty in Montrose, California. "I need to get settled somewhere," states Coyote. "I need to at least have a home that Rory can come visit or stay at."
With his 40-Year High School Reunion in September, Coyote is hopeful that San Diego will be the best place for him to live for the next decade.
Coyote is giving away some FREE SONGS to herald his triumphant return to San Diego.
"The Pauper" from the The Pauper rock opera by The Rich is one of the songs that won the 1978 KPRI Battle of the Bands Contest.
"Hello Again" by The Rich is one of the songs that was recorded for the Live Radio Show granted to the Battle of the Bands winners.
"Cold Day In Hell" is another of the songs recorded for the KPRI Radio Show by The Rich.

Shovelling Dirt and Hanging with the Rhinos
Coyote's brother has a company that installs artificial turf, and putting greens, like at miniature golf courses. This required removing trees, bushes and grass, then creating a shaped landscape of "Road Base," a mixture of gravel and sand. Then a thiner layer of "DG" decomposed granite, then the "carpet," the artifical turf. Interesting business with some beautiful results but, all that work needs to be done by someone.
The demolotion of the landscape is hard work. Removing trees, bushes, and grass...
The installation of the new earth is hard work, shoveling dozens of wheel barrows full of the "road base," and "d. g.'
Then the carpet has to cut, installed and nailed. This was an interesting new concept for Coyote is a Master Carpenter and completed the 4-year United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiners "apprenticeship program" in 1978. "In artificial turf installations you don't want to drive the nail in deep like with wood. Otherwise the carpet will have dimples in it. So that was new. Stopping the nail before it sinks in. Oh yeah, and then we have to hide the nails also! We have to pull out any grass under the nail head to purposely camoulflage the nailing. Which was also weird, because I have to nail into gravel. Yeah, gravel. It took me a while to get used to that."
When Coyote finishes all the green carpet installation they put a thousand pounds of sand per 100 square feet. Worse yet, the silica sand is in 100 pound bags. "They are very difficult to pick up and carry," pants our slave pup. "Although I've been doing Kung Fu consistently since 1980, this shovelling involved a few muscles I hadn't used so much." Coyote puffs out his chest. "I'm a little stronger now."
Don't forget: Coyote was already claiming to have built up new shoulder muscles and leg muscles from pushing heavy road cases and building sets for Rhino Staging.
In the movie, Kung Fu Hustle, the first hero was the town's "Coolie" worker. This person was so incredible strong and fast from his hard labors that he was almost invisible when he fought. The translation of "coolie" is: man of great strength from hard work. Coyote Coolie. Coolie Coyote. Coyote The Coolie. Coolie The Coyote. No matter how you say it, our Kung Fu Coyote is now a Kung Fu Coolie.

-- BUDDHISM NEWS: The Path of
Buddha --
Prophet in his Home Town?
Can Buddha Zhen preach in his hometown?
History has statistically proven this to be almost impossible.
People have a need to see their heros in larger-than-life terms. That is why movie stars are celebrated. People want to see them as their movie heros and often knock them off their pedestals if they discover any human faults or weaknesses.
This will be interesting. What will happen?
Will Buddha Zhen be recognized as a Buddhist priest?
Will Buddha Zhen be recognized as a Zen master?
Will Buddha Zhen be recognized as a Kung Fu master?
Will Buddha Zhen be recognized and appreciated for being a Tai Chi master?
Will Buddha Zhen be celebrated and supported by public attendance at his seminars and tournaments?
Will Buddha Zhen be someone that most parents want their kids to go to for learning respect, self-discipline, self-defense, and ethics?
Will Buddha Zhen be an awesome dude who kids want to have as their Kung Fu master?
Will Buddha Zhen's father stop telling him to give up his Kung Fu schools, stop working on his record company, and keep taking as many "day labor" jobs as possible to pay his bills?
Will Buddha Zhen's mother maintain that her oldest son is, "not her son... " and not in her Final Will?
Will Buddha Zhen's brother Dave put his kids in the Tai Chi Youth school as he promised?
Will Buddha Zhen's brother Tom continue to give him shovelling jobs?
Will Buddha Zhen's cousin invite him to their birthday parties and weddings that he has been excluded from for twenty years because his father told them not to.
Will Buddha Zhen find a place to teach?
As you can see, San Diego does have opportunities to offer, but with his family working against him, and already very disappointed in him for being a Mr. Mom instead of a doctor or attorney... San Diego could also be the most difficult place in the world for Buddha Zhen to live.

- - RICHARD DEL CONNOR NEWS: Masonic
Kung Fu and Freemasonry - -
Letter of Introduction to La Jolla Masons
Despite the fact that I am in poverty, some of my relatives are very wealthy. They either live in La Jolla, the Beverly Hills of San Diego, or in Del Cerro, another place than only the wealthy can afford.
So Richard Del Connor has sent a letter of introduction to the La Jolla Freemason Lodge. Based upon their website page pronouncing the principles, Richard drafted a "Letter Of Introduction" that was styled and based upon their webpage. "By quoting their ethic, then listing my attributes or activities of that nature--I was able to hopefully impress them. I hope this letter inspires them to want to meet me and have me as a member of their lodge."
