Shaolin Records Puts Lid on Podcasts
Since 2005, Shaolin Records has been releasing podcasts produced by Richard Del Connor from the Shaolin Records recording studios of Tujunga, then, in Montrose, California. Each podcast series shared and offered a different view of Coyote's life and lifestyle.
Podcast 1: The American Zen Buddhist Rock Podcast became known as Coyote Radio. NET
This web blog kept fans and friends informed of Coyote's activities and recording projects. Sometimes rough mixes and basic tracks were released as albums were being recorded. Live songs were sometimes performed by The Hippy Coyote who hosted all American Zen Buddhist Rock Podcast episodes.
The American Zen Buddhist Rock Podcast also had over eighty episodes that guided the audience through the complex website of www.americanZEN.org where each American Zen album has a section of over 40 webpages that provide poetry, "webstories," lyrics, and merchandise related to each album release of American Zen.
Podcast 2: The Coyote Poetry Podcast was created to spotlight Coyote's poetry and provide shorter podcasts of only one poem and only one song.
Podcast 3: The Folk Rock Podcast of Shaolin Records was created during the recording of American Zen's 2nd album, LEVEL 2 = CHRIST KILLER. This folk rock album has a minimum of electric guitars, percussion and an oil drum was beaten into oblivion instead of Coyote's drums, and a musical style reminiscent of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and Donovan from the 1960s. The Folk Rock Podcast hoped to unite and discover more folk rock artists to revive this philosophical psychedelic classic rock style. Shaolin Records also wanted to put Coyote on a national or at least California folk rock tour with other folk rock artists. An additional website was created, www.CaliforniaFolkRock.com to promote more California folk rock artists.
Much to our surprise their were many talented folk rock bands in the United States and other countries, including Iceland and Australia. These artists were featured in their own Folk Rock Podcast shows with Coyote hosting and talking about the artists after interviewing them.
Podcast 4: The Zen Buddhist Podcast of Shaolin Zen was the most popular podcast of all four podcasts. With over 400,000 downloads from iTunes and many fans of Shaolin Records... worldwide fans embraced the Zen of American Zen from our own sect of Zen Buddhism, created by Richard Del Connor/Buddha Zhen, Shaolin Zen. This sect of Buddhism was also known as the Shaolin Zen CyberTemple with www.ShaolinZen.org being the main temple. The "Buddhism Basics," free at shaolinZEN.org were heralded, applauded and appreciated by thousands of Buddhists and interent surfers seeking enlightenment.
Ads were placed in the podcasts with links to products. We had some sales as a result of these podcasts. All of these podcasts were personal and included bits and pieces of Coyote's personal, musical and family life. From the dissolution of his family and marriage, to the running of his Kung Fu school, and disagreements with teachers and principals... these podcasts capture a 4-year period of Coyote's multi-faceted life.
These podcasts will be condensed and offered for sale in the future. Our next goal, when we reestablish Shaolin Records... somewhere... will be to release Video Webcasts of The Hippy Coyote and Buddha Zhen.
Thank you for your support and enthusiasm for these podcast radio broadcasts.
