"Great Salt Lake," Coyote’s FIRST MUSIC VIDEO since the last Coyote Radio TV show in 2005.
“Great Salt Lake” features Coyote PERFORMING SOLO FLUTE at the end of a day of shooting seven other music videos.
Coyote’d been strolling around the Montrose neighborhood, being shot by Director Scott Karahadian, and Jarrod Weinstein. Coyote played his ukulele and other instruments along to the music of American Zen’s first few albums on Shaolin Records.
Coyote wanted to “really play,” and talked the two cameramen into shooting him perform a LIVE VERSION of “Bouree,” very similar to the version by Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull. At the end of the performance, Coyote was so excited, he wanted to perform another song, one he’d written, called “Great Salt Lake.” Coyote dedicates the song to his son, “...who was born there. Sorry about that.”
His flutework is amazing and mesmerizing, but the animations added by director, Scott Karahadian, add another dimension to the video. Check it out:

Coyote Solo .com, our new website will feature SOLO and LIVE performances of The Hippy Coyote.
“Great Salt Lake” was written by The Hippy Coyote in about 1995 so that Coyote could have another full-length flute solo song. Coyote’s arrangement of “Bouree” by Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull, is still an impressive song with Coyote performing the bass solo on his nickel flute. But Coyote wanted his own song and then, one night at a bar in downtown Salt Lake City, it hit him. Coyote went out behind the night club on State Street and in the chilly night air of Utah, composed the song, “Great Salt Lake.”
The band version of “Great Salt Lake,” on the LEVEL 2 = CHRIST KILLER album, by American Zen, is a different arrangement from the version Coyote performs live.
