American Zen’s SECOND ALBUM
Only a few more touchups and the album is done.
Some of the songs were recorded in Utah right after the LEVEL 1 = PEACE OF MIND album tracks.
Coyote’s injured arm slowed down production a couple months. The day we scheduled to start recording LEVEL 2 = CHRIST KILLER, was a bright sunny day...then Michelle changed her mind and wouldn't take Rory with her.
So Coyote decided to play with Rory instead of record the drums for CHRIST KILLER. He was near the top of the tree in front of his Tujunga home when he tore some ligaments in his right shoulder. Brave and fearless Coyote clambered through the branches, displaying his tree climbing talents from childhood. Rory, his son, meakly followed behind at lower altitudes.
Coyote cleared away some of the distracting branches to make it easier for Rory to follow him up the tree. But as Coyote sought to clear a couple of the highest branches, one of them snapped back towards his head, held tightly in his right hand, over his head. SNAP. It popped. Coyote's right arm, not yet in pain, became numb and uncooperative, somehow anticipating the damage done. Coyote broke his arm, teaching his son to climb a tree.
With hardly a complaint, Coyote climbed quickly down from the tree, then with his left arm helped his son down. It was several weeks before Coyote could even raise his arm to shoulder level. The drums have been recorded with great discomfort to Coyote.
