Album reviews of American Zen's first album, Level 1 = Peace Of Mind,
are referring to the music as, "inspiring," "enlightening," "thought provoking," and "spiritual."
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Tujunga, California – September 10, 2006 – American Zen, America's first Buddhist rock band, released their first album in 2005, Level 1 = Peace Of Mind.
Producer #1 may be a hip hop genius, but without any synthesizers and loops, he was lost trying to mix this stereo recording. It was interesting realizing that all types of music require different talents and perspectives. He'd laugh at my efforts to record hip hop I'm certain.
This album is so simple, but I only like to do things once, knowing I've done my best.
The best overall concept is still formulating for this album, COYOTE RADIO TUJUNGA. That final sound I will be stuck with forever. So, I want it to be a sound I always want to hear. I'm close. Although I feel this album as if we were a band again, like THE STREETHEARTS, back in 1983. We were like Joe Cocker, Bad Company, The Rolling Stones, and Bob Seger. That was cool. I'm probably going to to use some of those pictures for the LEVEL 4 = KUNG FU COWBOY album. That album is finally taking shape also. In fact, I feel as though I'm getting closer to a sound for this album as I get closer to the LEVEL 4 album. Maybe that's when this will happen.
COYOTE RADIO TUJUNGA is a simple album, but it represents me at my best: performing acoustic guitar and singing at the same time. I was rehearsing for the COYOTE RADIO cable tv shows we taped and I was singing my son to sleep every day after lunch.
So we're going to finish recording LEVEL 2 = CHRIST KILLER. Perhaps we can make our annual record release date of, February 4, in 2007.
