Gymnasium Drums Completed for Kung Fu Cowboy Album
Special thanks to Larry Muepo for putting up with our thunderous drums in the gymnasium.
Coyote’d been practicing these songs by banging his drumsticks on the steering wheel of his car. So he had some ideas...but when we were done--we had some unusual opportunities.
The song, “Dizzy - My Toxic Daughter,” has two drumsets playing in stereo for most of the song, but then in the poetry section, we put some contrasting pieces of drums against each other... it’s very cool.
The song, “Formwork,” has 4 tracks of drums. When we were hanging out with Mick Fleetwood of Fleetwood Mac, many years ago, he revealed his drum recording secrets during the TUSK sessions at THE VILLAGE RECORDER studios of Geordy Hormell.
We used these recording techniques to get a powerful combination of FOUR DRUMSETS playing together on, “Formwork.”
Some songs have a beatiful simplicity that Coyote nails with his primitive drumstyles similar to Ginger Baker of Cream, Bobby Caldwell of the Johnny Winter Band, and Mick Fleetwood of Fleetwood Mac.
Now we can start putting the guitars and bass onto album tracks of LEVEL 4 = KUNG FU COWBOY.
