Where’d Rory Go?
In our determined effort to maintain a group/band identity of "American Zen," we created fictitious names for our band members, so that any of our past members could return, or a new player could take their place. Originally we wanted to keep band members looking similar so that it would be difficult to tell who was really who.
Unfortunately, we didn’t make enough money to lure them back and Coyote’s exile to Utah created a decade of space between him and his bandmates...
There have been a number of Rorys over the decades:
1960s:
Richard Del Connor
John Kopecky
1970s:
Wayne Ab Stockwood
Richard Del Connor
That rich kid with the huge afro, I played Hammond organ in his jazz punk band 1976. He recorded solo on "What Do We Have Now?" at Bonita studios in 1977.
Dann Linck
Don Carone
Vinnie Lauria
1980s:
Patrick Flannery
The bearded guy from Newfoundland in 1983
John / Jack Sherman “Dogtar” (Red Hot Chili Peppers 1st album)
Richard Connor
The Coyote
1990s:
The Coyote
Bob Heidt
2000s:
The Hippy Coyote
Jack Sherman left Richard’s band to record the first album with The Red Hot Chili Peppers. He rented Richard’s Marshall amp for the recording sessions of the Red Hot Chili Peppers' first album in mid eighties.
