  2008 is the launch of BUDDHA KUNG FU schools in Los Angeles, California, by Buddha Zhen.

LaCrescenta, California – November 2, 2008 - LaCrescenta Park was to be the location of the 2008 Annual Chinese Gongfu and Taijiquan Tournament. We've renamed it the "Annual Chinese Kungfu and Tai Chi Tournament," since 2002.

The tournament was cancelled because even with all the students of the YMCA and CV Park, we couldn't get enough registrations to make a tournament.

Even when Buddha Zhen first moved back to California in 2000, he held the 2000 Annual Chinese Gongfu and Taijiquan Tournament in a Karate school in Santa Clarita. We are very disappointed to abandon the tournament this year.

Buddha Kung Fu accepted the tournament torch from Tai Chi Youth and Shaolin Chi Mantis to host the 2008 Push Hands tournaments held each July and September.

It was expected that Buddha Kung Fu would host the 2008 Annual Chinese Kung Fu and Tai Chi Tournament that Shaolin Chi Mantis and Tai Chi Youth have been cosponsoring since 1996.

The tournament was cancelled due to the upheavals in Buddha Zhen's life moving from Tujunga to Montrose and the lack of promised advertising from the L.A. County Parks.
