  2008 is the launch of BUDDHA KUNG FU schools in Los Angeles, California, by Buddha Zhen.

LaCrescenta, California – October 4, 2008 - SHAOLIN ZEN is the Zen Buddhist branch of Shaolin Communications. Shaolin Zen sprung from the curriculums of Shaolin Chi Mantis in 1994 as the newsletter for the Shaolin Chi Mantis school of Buddha Zhen in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Shaolin Zen has become the repository and directory for the Buddhism and Daoism that is dispersed within the Shaolin Chi Mantis and Tai Chi Youth curriculums. An entire curriculum notebook, the DHARMA DIRECTORY of SHAOLIN CHI MANTIS, was created when Tai Chi Youth was formed so that we could be fully aware of where our religious, spiritual, and Buddhist doctrinces were interwoven with our TCY curriculums.

Every October, Buddha Zhen has been sponsoring Zen Bootcamps, "to give people another way to look at the afterlife," states Buddha Zhen Shen-Lang "Spirit Wolf of Truth."

When Buddhism travelled from India to Tibet, it absorbed the Tibetan religion and culture which added the mandalas and the Tibetan Book of the Dead.

When Buddhism settled in China it got the demons and dragons and immortals of Chinese myths and legends.

When Buddhism came to America, we didn't add monsters, we tried to understand the monsters of Asia...but those are hard for us to accept, just as our ghosts and goblins are difficult for Asians to take seriously.

So American Buddhists aren't very spooky. Still, when all your neighbors are arming their porches with ogres and axes, it can be fun to pursue the spiritual gods, angels, and demon quellers...

BUDDHISM DHARMA FOR TODAY: "Let's Go To Church"

After spending the morning in church, reading the Holy Bible with his daughter, Buddha Zhen discusses the genocide, theft, and obedience that God instructed his chosen people, the Hebrews.

Buddha Zhen also shares some words of wisdom from a 96 year old Mason, he'd been chatting with the night before. Still having financial troubles, the elderly man reassured Buddha Zhen that he should continue to do the work he's "best" at, and that sleeping well at night is worth more than a Rolls Royce.
