This song tells the entire story of his marriage to Raquel King-Hayata, of Mexico City, Mexico. It was written after the last time they made love in the North Hollywood condominium where they had lived together in 1986-88.
They met at UCLA when Richard was working for the UCLA Extension Department. He loaned her his Levi jacket when it began to rain, as she departed on the bus. She was visiting UCLA from her home in Mexico City. Her father was a Chinese acupuncturist, and her mother was a doctor.
