Coyote Recovers from Black Widow Spider Bite

On October 30, 2009, for a HALLOWEEN CONCERT at Mountair, The Hippy Coyote of American Zen performed solo on his Alvarez acoustic guitar. Coyote performed a set of musiic that included his comedic banter with the audience, and he recited a poem from his upcoming album, "Boy and King."

While setting up his microphone and the garage stage area, he shared his rough mix of, "Kill The Spider," with the Tujunga audience. As the song faded from the P.A. Coyote took the stage and performed the same song, solo on acoustic guitar.

Jarrod Weinstein, a long time fan of American Zen, videotaped the performance on his laptop computer. The "KILL THE SPIDER" VIDEO can be seen on YouTube.com, thanks to Jarrod.

YouTube.com: "KILL THE SPIDER" performed live by The Hippy Coyote of American Zen, October 30, 2009.

Although "Kill The Spider" was written 1978 after Coyote moved to Los Angeles with his band, THE RICH, it was never been performed in any of Coyote's bands or gigs. This song was pulled out to amuse his children during their afternoon naptime concerts. It was Coyote's kids who convinced him this was a song that other kids would enjoy as they sang the song bouncing around the house and requesting more performances of it. Coyote was saving the song for ALICE COOPER, but was unable to contact him with his music publishing company, SHAOLIN MUSIC.

About American Zen
American Zen is led by The Hippy Coyote who fronts the band on flute and acoustic guitar. Coyote is the "Kung Fu Cowboy" who studies Shaolin Kung Fu, and with their latest record, LEVEL 3 = I Want You To Love Me, has somehow become the band's drummer also. Although Coyote worked hard to get his bandmates back, the band was destroyed when our booking agent promised us we would make more money in Utah--and Coyote got stranded there caring for her kids.
